These seminars are intended to advance the student to a level above the one they came with. The level they achieve depends on:
1. Not to let your preconceived ideas stop you from moving beyond this sticking point.
2. Ask copious questions of the facilitator, regardless of whether you think the question is “stupid” or not. You are here to “learn”. I am here to “teach”. I will hold nothing back. Or teach you 1’ off, ever!!!
3. Practice your forms at your level of training. Ask Me for corrections and the ways to improve on them.
4. Turn your horse 100 x’s a day. Lon Sao Di-Gon Sao and Quan Sao!
5. Practice moving around the sticks 30 minutes a day. Footwork is the key to “Shadowhand” Kung Fu.
6. The seminar doesn’t stop at 4 pm. We just take a break for food and rest. We go on till we get sleepy!

“Another amazing seminar! Thank you again SiGung.. Doc, for sharing your knowledge and all the many needed corrections I received. I especially enjoyed the “Ask me anything” moments, regarding ‘any’ movement in any of the forms. They were awesome to be part of and watch, as we saw Doc begin at one point, and it often lead to a variety of applications. I’ll need more pages for all the extras that were covered in Chum Kil [many notes: lol]
Getting tweaked in 4 punch 102 as well as tweaking our structure and pressure in the Donchi sau drills were again, awesome.. as we then incorporated that knowledge into our rolling and lop drill.. into the lockout. NICE! O, and thanks again for that manual, Doc.
I appreciate the tips on the Wooden man, Doc, and I’m still transferring notes on those facial pressure points and the one on the leg, for the sneaky kick.

Just wanted to thank you for such a great seminar. As usual you’ve given me so much detailed information, easily understood and readily usable. Your patience and ability to explain the topic at hand gives me the tools to problem solve where most of my questions I end up answering myself. I’ve never been to any of your seminars where one person left with an unanswered question. With even such little exposure to the info and a small amount of practiced you know one can only do so much in an eight hour day. I walked away with the confidence that I am better off now at either end of the blade, and that’s saying a lot because blades can be scary, especially to the novice. “With the sun just coming up and features hidden, I could only make out dark figures.. but even at a 100 yards I could still recognize the big, stocky man with the ponytail as my Sigung.. the one and only Doc Savage!
Now when I first heard Doc was going to do a seminar on knives.. KNIVES.. I really cant describe my excitement. Why? To set the stage, a person writing a book on the history of Wing Chun, and has done MUCH research on the different Ip/WC lineages, discovered that THE most aggressive and proficient student of Ip Man was a private student, Leung Shiu Hung.  This same student was mesmerized with learning Ba Zam Do, or WC knives. He discovered the exact blade placement for.. ‘quick kills’.. through it’s application on wild packs of dogs, as well as a few encounters with armed robbers.  This helps one to appreciate why over the years, S.E.A.L. Teams, FBI, etc., understood that Leung Shiu Hung, [OR American], DUNCAN Leung, with a blade, was the most dangerous man alive!  Ask yourself.. WHY else dedicate the training of these agents and their lives.. to Duncan.. for decades?  This ‘deeper’ knowledge of knives by Duncan, was passed on to Doc.. which HE is now sharing with US??  Now then.. do you realize that as I walk toward the pavilion, it ‘overwhelms me’ that I am about to be taught knife defense by the man knife experts consider one of the top two IN THE WORLD?  That being said,  Although I am very new to Shadowhand WC [less than a year] and this was only my second seminar.. as I am walking and get closer to the pavilion, it felt great to walk up and see my brothers . Ed.. I would like to talk more on the 7 stars. Enero, don’t know why you doubt yourself bro.. you truly have the gift!  I feel when you see me you must think.. DOH.. here’s that new guy. But if you do you hide it well. lol  Seriously, thank you for your patience, realizing what I’m doing wrong, [HUGE as a Sifu] and taking time to correct me. Panama City, FL Seminar

SiFu Doc Savage conducted an all day  seminar on Chi Sao Saturday 31 May and another seminar on the Wooden Man on 1 June 2014.  Private training /recertification was conducted on Friday for Disciples. This fulfilled the last seminar in Panama City, FL. SiFu Doug will be traveling in search of knowledge!  We wish him the best in his travels and he will be missed.  Shadowhand welcomes Doug’s students to come train in Fort Walton Beach and as SiFu says the door is always open, no appointments are necessary.

I just got home about an hour ago…and I have spent the entire afternoon both amazed at how much Wing Chun one could possibly learn in such a short amount of time! I am so grateful to Doc Savage and to EVERYONE ONE of you guys! Before I left Waco I asked myself…
“What does it mean to IMPART ZEN TO OTHERS?” IT’s easy to stick yourself on a pedestal, pin a white flower on your chest and puff yourself up by dropping names in front of everyone. In My opinion, people who feel the need to drop the names of others consistently are simply NO SECURE with their own name having ANY TRUE VALUE on it’s own merit. So if this what a poor disciple does…it’s easy enough to understand.

Admiring the kindness of others is a good thing….people do not admire what they do not value.

But it is a much better thing to EXUDE KINDNESS from yourself and to show it to others.

I am not sure if this is what is meant by “IMPARTING ZEN”…but if it is…well, each and everyone of the various Sifu’s from the varied Shadowhand schools I met, and as well their students, all do credit to SiFu Doc Savage, and show that irregardless of what level of Martial Skill they have…they have learned and mastered the LIFE SKILL of kindness by the Example of Doc Savage.

I enjoyed meeting each and everyone of you!

Now, if Imparting ZEN however is something more along the lines of EMPOWERING OTHERS…knowing when to say…”Yeah, but you still SHINE!” at just the right moment…or giving 100% patience…meeting each person on their own level, and not settling on leaving it all up to the student to have to understand the way things are taught, but seeking out how the student learns until it is found and meeting them at that level to INSURE the LESSON is BOTH PASSED and RECEIVED…TO INSURE THE SUCCESS of students…then there again, by my witness of both SiFu Doc Savage and all whom he had help work with myself and others…I witnessed that not only did DOC and all Shadowhand school instructors SET A VERY HIGH BAR to be reached…but that they did not set the same bar, without also supplying the ladder and saying as needed…”CLIMB HERE!”

On so multiple levels, I witnessed so many examples I wish not just to admire, not to emulate…rather to insure to incorporate into my own walk…and to pay forward into the lives of others, to teach with passion, to greet with kindness, strive in company with Humor, to GIVE without expectation of return…and to seek personal growth, exemplifying the path to Mastery is not to seek MASTERY…rather simply “TO SEEK”…to continually focus on learning, exploring…

“Still sore and nursing bruises from this past weekend’s seminar.  You know the saying “Fire forges Steel”?   That’s how I would describe the training.  I learned so much from the intensity and reality-based nature of Saturday’s class.   Indeed, wing chun is pounded down and not passed down!  But it just wasn’t the physical and technical aspects that had me impressed.  SiFu shared a good amount of philosophy and history to round out our knowledge.   Sunday was great as well – just hanging with SiFu and the disciples.  More technical training, lots of Q&A, and just all around camaraderie.   Thank you SiFu, for all that you taught and shared with us, and thank you disciples and fellow classmates as well for helping me in my wing chun path.  Looking forward to the next seminar!”

SiFu Doug Hindman has been training with SiFu Robert “Doc” Savage since 1997.  In 2001 he became a Disciple and continues to train privately with SiFu Savage.  SiFu Doug Hindman is currently teaching Panama City Wing Chun as an extension school of SHADOWHAND Wing Chun Kung Fu.
