FLORIDA SHADOWHAND WING CHUN WINTER RETREAT

The seminar was fantastic! After just a month of learning, I’ve had my eyes widened to see the vastness and depth of the art. The small connections I’m starting to make just leave me hungry for more. The location and attendees created a very conducive environment for training and everyone was so generous with insights and assistance. Thank you Sifu for such a great learning opportunity and leading by example which lights our path of understanding. Thank you Bobby for your hospitality providing the venue and good eats. Also thank you all who attended which made this possible, especially Enero who took many drill beating for my benefit!

I can’t wait to bring what I’ve learned to the next class!  – Chris

Yet another great weekend of Shadowhand wing chun training by SiFu Doc. True wing chun is pounded down, not handed down. It was great to see my brothers and train in the company of them again. Thanks also to Bobby for the use of his house and hospitalities. Good times, great training had by all. SiFu Doc’s knowledge of WC never ceases to amaze! – Justin

Thanks SiFu for an awesome weekend of Wing Chun. Bobby beat me to the Jut Sup but I must thank you for your generosity with the art. As for all of my fellow attendees, thanks, I learned something from each of you. The atmosphere was very conducive to learning. Good energy & lots of support. To echo my opening remark: AWESOME! Until the next time…  – EZ E (Nero)

What a great seminar, thanks Sifu Doc for all your info you so generously pound down. Thanks to everyone who made the trip to Holt and look forward to more training opportunities.  – Bobby

SiFu Bobby Beck

SHADOWHAND Wing Chun Disciple

“Assistant Instructor”

SiFu Bobby Beck started learning wing chun under SiFu Robert “Doc’ Savage on 1 Jan 2003.  Prior to this, he obtained experience in wrestling and Taekwondo.  SiFu Beck became a SHADOWHAND Wing Chun Kung Fu Disciple on 1 Jan 2005.  With well over 9 years of wing chun training experience he still actively learns from SiFu Savage and attests to the fact that with every class there is always something new he personally learns.

SiFu Savage bestowed SiFu Bobby Beck with the great honor of assisting him as an instructor to pass on the art of wing chun.  Currently,  SiFu Bobby Beck is the only one allowed to wear the infamous red shirt symbolic of its strength as he is a force to be reckoned with. SiFu Bobby Beck is well respected amongst his brothers and enjoys teaching and helping them excel.  He frequently assists SiFu Savage by hosting the use of his facility in Holt, FL so students can train during seminars.

SiFu Beck is a born fighter and has had experience in his dealings working security in bars. He is also a family man married with 2 beautiful daughters who no doubt are gaining valuable practical instruction in wing chun as passed on to their father.

HOLT-ON REVIEW: 7-8 JULY 2012 COMPLETE!

“FLORIDA WING CHUN – SHADOWHAND”

Thanks Doc for continuing to fine tune my Wing Chun skills, I have watched other so called masters of Wing Chun and they seem to have forgotten some of the most basic stuff.  I hope this never happens to me and with your guidance I am sure it won’t. I am also thankful to everyone who drove to Holt for the seminar you guys helped make it a success with your desire to learn and get better. – Bobby Beck

AWESOME seminar! I had a great time! Thanks SiFu for once again raising my level of understanding in the art of wing chun. Thanks Bobby for the awesome food and facility to train in. Can’t wait for the next one!!! – Ryan Corley

Another great weekend of training. I appreciate the fact you get down to the roots of what you teach and provide us a deeper understanding of the drills and techniques. It was fun training with everyone again.
Thank you SiFu!
Big thanks to Bobby for the great hospitality! – Adam Rose

Another great seminar by SiFu Doc! I feel sorry for the 99% of other WC’ers out there who are of the mindset that the pole and knives are not valid in todays modern world. What a waste. Same goes for there limited viewpoint on the “application” of the wooden man movements. We all should be grateful for Doc’s “wide angle vision” of the entire WC system.
Thank you SiFu for a great training weekend. It was good to see and train with my kung fu brothers as well. – Justin Corey

Thanks SiFu for helping us get leaps and bounds better! There is so much to learn and you always know how to bring forth another Ah Ha moment. Disciples or students that studied wing chun 3-4 years that may think they understand wing chun like you do have no clue. Thanks for entrusting in us the finer points! – Daniel Lopez

Why Do Students Quit?

June 2nd, 2012 No comments

Question:

Why do students Quit?

Answer:

In this day and age everyone has too much to do than set aside the time and make the commitment to learn something as difficult as a Wing Chun. Oh, they spend hours upon hours at the TV watching sports and learn all the stats that help them talk to their friends and co-workers for hours. We buy expensive video games and X-Boxes and the like. No problem there. It is a safe way to have fun. Nobody gets hurt, sweaty or tired. Wing Chun training on the other hand will cause you pain and suffering. You might get exhausted or even get hit! In my 40 years of martial arts training I have seen them come and go. It does not take much pressure for most people to quit. What I tell my students is keep doing what you are doing and the art will live in you and your family. If you stick with it you will find students who see the big picture. Think about it. Thanks to all my loyal Disciples/Students who believe as I do. SiFu Doc

SiFu Why Do You Have Seminars?

May 31st, 2012 No comments

Sifu Doc Savage has been teaching wing chun seminars/workshops since 1990. In roughly 2001 his Disciples as well as fellow students inquired about the rationale for teaching seminars/workshops.  The following serves as Sifu Doc Savage’s simple and yet profound answer.

Question:

SiFu why do you have seminars? Don’t we learn from the instructors the same thing you have taught them?

Answer:

To answer your question simply….

1. The seminars bring people of like minds together in a relaxed atmosphere to learn and share their experiences.

2. Seminars let you train with students of all levels and years of training.

3. To have your questions answered from the source and to verify the that the lessons are on track with the principles of Shadowhand Wing Chun.  My Instructors are trained by me and have been given the tools to impart the knowledge to their students. When you are here I check for the details and show you how the Rules of Wing Chun, The Rules of Fighting and the Rules of Chi Sao tie together the Forms and Drills.

4. I teach you how to move as a unit: Body, Mind and Spirit.

The time and energy you invest at seminars will reduce the chance of failure in the street.

I have been teaching and training for many years now and have discovered that NO ONE has left a seminar disappointed in the information and or the training they have received.
